Richard Lee Byers is the author of over thirty novels and the co-creator of the critically acclaimed Young Adult series The Nightmare Club. The Rite was a finalist for the Origins Award. His other books include the horror tales: The Vampire’s Apprentice, Dark Fortune, and Dead Time; the fantasy stories, Unclean, Dissolution, The Enemy Within, The Rage, The Ruin, The Black Bouquet, Queen of the Depths, and the Shattered mask, and the X-Men novel Soul Killer. His short fiction has appeared in numerous magazines and anthologies.

A resident of the Tampa Bay area, Richard spends much of his leisure time fencing, playing poker, shooting pool and is a frequent guest at Florida science-fiction conventions. His current projects include new novels set in the Forgotten Realms and Warhammer universe and the screenplay for The Plague Knight, a major release from Rogue Planet Pictures.
